Hell No?

There has been lots of chatter about hell in the Facebook/Twitter/blogging world over the past few days. (This eruption was brought on by the announcement of Rob Bell’s coming book “Love Wins.” Check out the video here.)

All of this talk makes me wonder why Christians seem to love Hell so much. No matter what our theology and tradition says, can’t we hope that no one will go to Hell? What is wrong with that?

  1. I do not love hell. The more I learn about hell from the Bible, the more I want to help others make the choice not to go there. But that’s exactly the point…it is a CHOICE. It is a real place and a real decision. The only true hope is admitting our sins and believing in Jesus Christ’s death, burial and resurrection.

  2. The problem with hoping that know one will go to hell is that it is a false hope. Jesus declaired it to be a real place, a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth. God could not be a God of justice with out it. Hell was not originally created for man, but for Satan and his crew. The choice is ours.
Hey, that was a good one Jason, you me to respond. 🙂

  3. Sorry, ment to say ”you got me to respond”.

  4. Yes, it is a choice. We either choose Life through Jesus or death apart from Him. I find it sad when Hell is viewed as threat or incentive to live a moral life rather than the result of us turning our back on Life.
